If we were to stop at the word-for-word translation from the Piedmontese dialect, we'd call it “arnese” (tool) or “cosuccia” (little thing). But that's just the ancestral legacy of a peasant patois. Because today, Arneis is one of the most appreciated white grape varieties in Piedmont, suitable for both casual and formal occasions.
